Birmingham, Alabama --- Hey yall, I’m Kenyele 👋🏾 Founder of Kenetic Wellness, Pilates instructor, Southern Belle to my core, and someone who genuinely believes movement can change not just your life, but your family’s legacy.
Kenetic Wellness was born from a simple belief: Movement should feel like home grounded, welcoming, familiar, and a place you actually want to return to.
This first post is my love letter to where I come from, shout out the Sticky City Fayette Al, why I started this, and what I’m promising you when you walk through my doors (or land on this website).

The Family I Come From
I come from a huge Southern family that knows how to show up.
We’re the “put something on the grill and invite the whole family over just because” kind of people. The kind of family that will:
Check on you before they check on themselves
Stay late at church, at the game, at the event—because somebody might still need something
Love hard… and sometimes forget to rest
Health, in my family, wasn’t usually about Pilates, massages, or gym memberships. It sounded more like: “You alright?” “Take this and lie down.” “Chin up.”
I watched people I love:
Work long hours
Serve their churches and communities
Carry stress in their backs, necks, and hips
Push through pain because “that’s just life”
No one was lazy.Everyone was just doing what had to be done.
That’s the soil I grew out of, and it’s a big reason I see wellness differently.

From Healthcare to “Movement as Public Health”
Before I ever cued a “use your breath to move” or a “relax your shoulders,” I was working in healthcare and project management.
I saw the other side:
The appointments booked after years of ignoring pain
The charts full of conditions that could’ve been eased or delayed with better movement, stress support, and education
The gap between what people know they should do and what they actually have the time, tools, or energy to do
At the same time, I was falling in love with Pilates.
Pilates gave me language for what I’d been feeling for years:
That strength doesn’t have to look loud to be powerful
That small, precise movements can change the way you walk into a room
That breath + control + awareness can literally change your nervous system
One day it clicked:What if Pilates wasn’t just a “boutique workout, made for the few ” but a public health tool to be used by all, especially for the South?

Why I Created Kenetic Wellness
I started Kenetic Wellness because I kept seeing the same story play out:
Brilliant, hard-working folks carrying careers, families, churches, and communities on their backs… while their own bodies were barely getting by.
It's really to say us Southerners know how to take care of everybody else. Kenetic Wellness exists to help us learn how to take care of ourselves, too.
I chose the name Kenetic as a play on “kinetic” (movement, energy) and “genetic” (roots, heredity) by woven in with my grandparents names, Kenneth and Carrie.

It’s a reminder that:
Movement is meant to be alive and ongoing, like nurturing our village, not something we go to only when we are in need.
Wellness is not separate from who we are our culture, our families, our faith, our history, it's with us, its in us
This work is about legacy. Mine, yours, for the ones here with us and the ones who will be here well after us.

“Movement to Keep Us Grounded” What That Really Means
Our tagline is: Movement to Keep Us Grounded.
Grounded, to me, means:
Rooted in who you are, not who the world tells you to be
Present in your own body, instead of numb, checked out, or running on empty
Strong enough to show up for the people you love—without losing yourself in the process
At Kenetic Wellness, that looks like:
Small, intentional classes where you’re seen and supported
Pilates that respects your injuries, your history, and your actual life schedule
A calm, welcoming space that feels more like peace than a performance
This is not a place where you have to “already be fit” to fit in.This is a place where you get to build strength, mobility, and confidence one session at a time.

My Promise to You
If you decide to partner with Kenetic Wellness—whether it’s for one class, a membership, a corporate workshop, or some pop up mat session around town—here’s what I’m promising you:
You will be treated like a whole person, not a body part.Your stress, your schedule, your story—they matter.
Your movement will be intentional. We don’t just “kill the workout.” We protect your joints, honor your nervous system, and build strength that lasts.
You will never be shamed for where you’re starting.CP time doesn’t exist here. You’re not “behind.” You’re right on time.
We will think generationally.I’m always thinking about you now—and the version of you 10, 20, 30 years from now. The grandparent you want to be. The fineeeeee elder you deserve to become.

Where We’re Headed (And How You Can Join In)
Kenetic Wellness is starting in downtown Birmingham, but the vision is bigger:
A flagship space where movement meets recovery and education
Partnerships with schools, churches, and companies to make wellness feel reachable
A culture shift in the South—from “we push through” to “we preserve ourselves so we can keep showing up”
If any part of my story sounds like you, or someone you love, I’d love for you to be part of this.
